This plant was slated to burn 70% coal, 30% biomass. Michigan students opposed the plant. Rather than building this coal and biomass co-firing plant, Lansing Board of Water and Light has opted to convert the three oldest units of the Eckert coal plant (also in Lansing, MI) to natural gas.
