Notes
Construction of this new facility is planned fort the the existing GRU Deerhaven Generation Station which is located off of Highway US 441, approximately 8 miles northwest of downtown Gainesville and 7 miles southeast of the City of Alachua.

The project will be fueled by biomass, including forest residue from the surrounding, heavily wooded areas of northern Florida, wood processing residues and clean municipal wood waste. The project will require approximately one million tons of fuel annually, sourced within a 75-mile radius of the project site.

Owners expect the plant to be operational in late 2013. GREC LLC has a 30-year contract with Gainesville Regional Utilities to sell all of the electricity from the facility to the utility. The plant is designed to provide electricity to ~ 70,000 homes.
