HELP NIRS REACH MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU!
FREE ANI DIFRANCO CD FOR FIRST 100 RESPONSES!
As a member of NIRS' e-mail Alert list, you know what NIRS has been
doing lately....Here are just a couple of examples:
*We released our landmark report
<http://www.nirs.org/radwaste/outofcontrol/outofcontrol.htm> on the
uncontrolled release of radioactive materials from Department of Energy
weapons sites.
*We helped bring out new maps <http://www.nirs.org/press/05-22-07/1>
showing likely radioactive waste transport routes if high-level atomic
waste goes to South Carolina under the Department of Energy's GNEP
program, and how those routes threaten millions of unwary Americans.

LangPref=en-CA> We need your help. Your contribution will help us to
reach more people with important information like this and help prevent
a new nuclear age. It's simply a fact that it takes money to reach
people. We use your donations in the most responsible way possible.
Please donate on our secure server by clicking the image on the left.
On our website (www.nirs.org <http://www.nirs.org/> ), we've recently
posted two major reports showing the economic and safety deficiencies of
nuclear power, plus a video of a debate
<http://www.nirs.org/videodebate.htm> between former NRC Commissioner
Peter Bradford, Greenpeace nuclear safety expert Jim Riccio, and nuclear
industry apologist Patrick Moore.
Most importantly, we are continuing to organize and reach out to stop
construction of new nuclear reactors across the U.S. This is ongoing and
essential behind-the-scenes work: according to the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission, at least six new reactor license applications, covering 10
reactors, are expected before the end of this year! With your help, we
can effectively fight these applications.
The work we are doing now will lead to a new, powerful movement against
nuclear power and for a new, sustainable energy future-if we can obtain
the support to continue these necessary efforts.
Please support this work with your most generous possible contribution.
Your contribution is gratefully appreciated not only by us, but also by
Ani DiFranco, who will give a free Live at Carnegie Hall CD to the first
100 people who respond to this message. Please donate today
<https://secure.campagne-online.com/registrant/donate.aspx?EventID=2927&
LangPref=en-CA> .
Many of you on our e-mail Alert list are not on our mailing lists: you
don't receive our mailings; you don't receive our e-newsletter, the
Nuclear Monitor. We appreciate your interest in NIRS and nuclear power
issues and we hope you'll become a full member of NIRS and join us in
the struggle to effectively address our climate crisis, build a
sustainable energy future, and end the use of nuclear power. These all
go hand-in-hand, one can't happen without the other. So again, please
support NIRS.
And please, feel free to e-mail me (nirsnet at nirs.org), or call or write
me at the address above if you ever have questions, need more
information, or if NIRS can help you build an effective grassroots
organization in your region.
All my best,
Michael Mariotte
