Dear All,
The government tried to put this in California and the citizens stopped it.
Please pass this on to everyone you know and lets protest it to our legislators, governor, officials at the University of Georgia, letters to the editor, and everyone else we can think of.
Jeannine
Hello All,
If you haven't heard, the government is proposing the construction of a Bio Terror Lab here in Athens, Georgia. The University of Georgia is in the process of selling land to the government for this building. The land they are selling is not out in the middle of no where, in fact, most of us drive by it everyday. The location for this massive building is located between the UGA soccer complex/Botanical Gardens and the Equestrian stadium on South Milledge. Yes, they want to build a massive (size of two Super-WalMart's- 500,000 square feet) building which will house the testing of biochemical's and diseases with no known cure in an area surrounded by farm animals, botanical gardens, athletes (soccer players, runners at the botanical gardens, equestrians/horses, bikers, etc).
Those who know me well know that I'm not one to throw my personal feelings on others; however, I feel so strongly that this is a dire mistake that I at least want you all to know about it. Please visit the website below, there is information regarding the building and a petition. There is also a public meeting on February 19th at the Georgia Center for Continued Education at 7pm.
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at this issue which concerns every one of us here in Athens.
