Hello Jeannine and all,
Thanks for these links. The DU issue is clearly important and it is good to
know of this resource in progress.
I'm writing, however, to ask if any of you on this list know of any well
done, current documentaries on the nuclear power issue?
We would love to have access to something that would give a good overview of
the issue addressing how nukes work, what their problems are in terms of
safety, waste, proliferation, security, etc., as well as addressing
economics, climate change and available alternatives.
A well done, overview documentary would be a really important tool for all
of us working to stop new nukes. Does anyone know of such a resource?
Many thanks,
Mark Haim
P.S. Back in the 70s NBC News (pre-GE days) did a really powerful "NBC White
Paper" program called "Danger: Radioactive Waste." We purchased a copy in
16 mm film and showed it extensively throughout Missouri. I lost track of
our copy back in the 1980s, so no longer have access to it. While it would
now be very out of date, it has some excellent footage and I'd love to see
it again and see if it might still be useful for some situations. Does
anyone know if there is a copy in DVD or VHS format available anywhere of
this?

Subject: [no-new-nukes-yall] Documentary draft of Tennessee anti-DU action
Friends --
I've posted a draft copy of Chapter 2 of the DU documentary we're filming --
this a 13-minute clip on the an action last May seeking to halt production
of DU penetrator munitions cores at Aerojet Ordnance in northeast Tennessee.
The action was co-sponsored by the Christian Peacemaker Teams Stop-DU
Campaign and the Sierra Club's radiation committee.
As with the Vieques section, this will only be available online for 5 days,
until next Wednesday. And similarly, I'll be happy to receive your
reflections via email. Please understand that there are contexts for
elements in this segment that appear in other parts of the documentary,
filmed and yet to be filmed.
To view this broadband version of the draft, go to:
http://www.wildclearing.com/chap2-cpt-draft.html
If you want to see the Vieques 18-minute draft, visit:
http://www.wildclearing.com/chap3-vieques-draft.html
No other drafts will be available for awhile. Thanks,
Wes
(CPT folks, please pass this along to others in the delegation.)
