Roger,

I think we might be referring to two different models. Both valid and
valuable.

My original response to your comments about needing to call more attention
to uranium front end problems and the need for a comprehensive full (cradle to
grave) profile of energy generators like nukes was to send along what we had
developed in our efforts.

We are past models in Florida. We need action and implementation
efficiencies and clean energy options are real and only need to be implemented. No more
experimental pilot programs for clean energy and efficiency while they spend
12 billion dollars on building 2200 MW of Nuke.

The time is now. Not forty to sixty years from now. Let's go.

Your point about examples from other states is solid and we have presented
many examples of what is being done in other states but in relation to another
point you made earlier: each state is different and unless examples are
translated to relate specifically to the state being discussed the policy makers
have an easy time dismissing what is presented.

NEW RANT As I previously mentioned in my earlier rant we will be presenting
a Florida specific case for efficient resource management and clean renewable
energy vs Two New Nuclear units January 30, 31 and February 1st. We will be
representing ourselves as FP&L rate payers and are the only intervenors
opposing the nukes to date. We wish some of the others who have an interest in
this case and claim to be helping intervenors would actually intervene or have
the people they are associated with intervene themselves and stop claiming
that they are helping intervenors when they are not. We know they are not we
are the only intervenors against this project.

This is mind boggling since it is the first nuke to go in front of a state
regulatory agency in many years. Where are the grass roots anti nuke people.
Aside from the people I mentioned earlier we have heard from no one with
offers to help. There are always plenty of people willing to tell us what to do
but few willing to help us do what we know to do. But I would have thought the
sustainability community from all perspectives would want to be a part of
this challenge to the FP&L Nukes. Rant Over

Hey, if you know of any independent grass roots eco's who are good readers
with a knowledge base on renewable energy or financial analysis or efficiency
programs or DSM and have a little time to read some interesting stuff and
then have a phone conversation about it with me let me know.

We're fine tuning our plan of engagement. Another legal no strings attached
professional would really be helpful for some additional coaching on specific
points of procedure. I don't want to wear out the ones that have been
helpful to date and need to ask some questions.
We might not win this but it would be foolish to let it pass without
challenge and it will serve as a great precursor to the following hearings on
environmental and Federal issues.

Analysis and design should never end but action is what gets us there.
Getting late,

Later,

kind of confused by the response. Renewable energy programs have for much
of the last 25 years benefited from model programs to show people how these
programs work in real life.

Am I hearing that this isn't appropriate?

25 years ago, anti-nuclear people worked closely with renewable energy
proponents. They were the ones that wanted demonstration models. Your original
list you sent to me was fine. My response wasn't meant to be "Add this to the
list" but ideas for you to think about for your list.

You might want to look at the CEC full cycle investigations that Rochelle
mentioned. When you are making proposals to state agencies, it never hurts to
have references to what other states have done. Anybody hear of other states
that are doing real time investigations that include environmental, safety,
security and economic issues?

If you are making a formal presentation before a state agency, looking at ot
her models will help you structure your own presentation!
