International protest camp in nuclear reactor building site of Olkiluoto
begins next week.

Finland’s new nuclear construction meets opposition.

An international anti nuclear gathering will take place from June 23-28
near the construction site of the world’s largest nuclear power station,
in western Finland. The seminars and protest camp aim to raise awareness
about problems arising from the resurgence of nuclear power, to network
and strategize a global civil society resistance to the new nuclear
threats.

“Climate change will not be stopped by nuclear power. Indigenous lands
will be destroyed by uranium mining and processing, millions will be put
at risk from safety failures and security risks, and a growing legacy of
radioactive waste will contaminate generations to come. Finland’s decision
to build an untested prototype European Pressurized Reactor sets a
dangerous precedent and global citizens should take responsibility and
oppose this nuclear madness.”
    - Senni Luosujärvi, Camp Coordinator

Participants for the camp are expected from several European
countries. The camp is organized by a broad coalition of environmental
movements, social justice organizations and concerned individuals.
