Dear all,

Language matters. Regardless of the veracity of the various allegations
regarding HAARP, it is important that we use words carefully and correctly
and avoid racist or ethno-religious hatemongering, or what can be seen as
such. Let me start off by saying that I understand that sometimes this is
slippery or difficult, when situations that are by their nature unclear or
confusing. I do not think, however that language such is this is acceptable
for a progressive listserv:

"Citizens around the world are engaged in a world war with their own
institutions.  Zionists are running those institutions.  Our war is with the
Zionists, not with each other.  This has nothing to do with being a Jew.

The Zionists are killing the entire earth... and there is no time to argue
about irrelevant issues because the fact is that the Zionists are doing it."

This is conspiratorial, "blame the secret cabal that runs the world"
thinking that is part of classic anti-Semitism.

Let me backtrack though and share some thought on why this unfortunate
conflating can go on so readily and be accepted by some.

The word "Zionist" basically means Jewish nationalism. It's based on the
notion that the Jewish people are a nation and should, like other nations,
have a national homeland. This is not an idea embraced by all Jews, and,
more importantly, is not understood in the same fashion by all who consider
themselves Zionists.

To begin with, what being "Jewish" is is somewhat confusing. Religion?
Culture? Ethnicity? Historically, Jews were a people or a nation, and they,
like many tribal cultures, had their own tribal religion. In Diaspora
(dispersal) in many places they lived Jews were still treated as a
nationality, as opposed to being citizens of the country they lived in who
practiced a different religion from the majority of the population (the way
most people consider American Jews today).  To complicate things, Jews went
off in different directions, evolved culturally in a dynamic fashion among
the cultures they lived in, intermarried to a significant extent, etc. Some
Jews abandoned their forebears religion, but continued to consider
themselves Jews. Other people converted to Judaism.

I, for one, consider myself Jewish, as 3/4 of my ancestry is Jewish, but do
not practice the Jewish religion. Further, I don't consider myself a
Zionist. While I am not opposed in principle to those Jews who want to
constitute themselves as a nation to do so, I am highly critical of the
actions the Israelis have taken over the course of many decades toward the
Palestinians. I believe that grave injustices have been committed and are
still being committed today.

This said, I recognize that the use of the word "Zionist" to equate with the
extremist, expansionist, militarist policies of some (recently dominant)
elements within the Israeli ruling parties is mistaken. A large portion of
the people who consider themselves Zionists do not approve of these
policies, and certainly would not approve of the use of systems like HAARP,
if it indeed is designed to do what the author alleges. Most American Jews,
and even most Israelis support a two-state solution that trades land for
peace and involves withdrawing the settlers from the West Bank settlements.

Bottom line, while anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism are not the same, when
Zionist or Zionism is equated with an extreme militarist position it is a
misuse of the term. Moreover, when far out conspiracies are attributed to
"the Zionists" it is very much akin to classic anti-Semitism.

I don't know enough about HAARP to comment on this, but I know enough about
language to know that when someone makes an unfounded generalization like
"The Zionists are killing the entire earth" that it is a step on the path to
drumming up hatred for a religious/ethnic group and justifying persecution
or worse. This really should have no place in the sustainable energy
movement.

Dear Harvey Schaktman - I am simply stating the facts.  The Zionists are in
international war crimes racketeering syndicate tied to the City of London
and Wall Street bankers.  Religion, ethnicity, and culture are irrelevant to
them and should be to us.  They will lie, cheat and exterminate anyone in
their way including Jews, Christians, Moslems, atheists, and voodoo

Before the 2006 Israeli attack on Lebanon the Israeli newspapers warned
Israeli soldiers to leave sperm in sperm banks if they wanted to have
children after the Lebanon attack.  The 5000 illegal depleted uranium bunker
buster bombs that the US gave to Israel to grid and carpet bomb Lebanon with
in July 2006, had another suprise in them - 4th generation nukes which were
discovered through analyses of bomb crater contamination that contaminants
were deuterium, U 235 and high levels of neutron activated radiation which
quickly dissipated.  In fact, Israel carried out two nuclear wars in one
bomb.   In the middle of the attack I warned that Israel had just nuked
itself and as soon as the rains started (in Oct.) that within 2 months there
would be an epidemic of diabetes in Israel caused by the DU and radiation.
The first report of this new diabetes epidemic in the north of Israel came
out in Dec. 2006, proving that I was unfortunately correct.
 Unfortunately it is also clear that the Israeli leadership was well aware
of the after effects on their own citizens.  Do you think the Israeli govt.
should nuke its own citizens, Palestinians, tourists, and surrounding
countries with a pernicious permanent poison?  What does this have to do
with being a Jew?  Nothing.  Its called "Democide", or a govt. killing its
own people.

You and everyone else focused on irrelevant side issues are being nuked too
while you whine about semantics.  The uranium levels in Los Angeles drinking
water doubled in 2007 - reflecting the intense bombing campaigns in
Iraq/Afghan. in July 2007 synchronized with monsoon rains in SE Asia to
maximize rainout of the DU.  It takes about 2 weeks for the radiation to
travel from the Middle East to the California coast... and on and on around
the world.  What does that have to do with being a Jew?  Nothing.  Radiation
respects no borders, no socioeconomic class and no religion.

Citizens around the world are engaged in a world war with their own

And to add insult to injury - their new weapons system - HAARP is for the
singular purpose of invisibly carrying out their agenda to maximize profits,
increase wealth upwards, and exterminate 2-4 billion people.  It is an
invisible global electromagnetic war.

Whether you are a Jew or not, you are part of that war.
