The staff of the Florida Public Service Commission has recommended that the
FPL Turkey Point Nuclear Plant be approved. Bob and myself are very
disappointed, not only because of the recommendation for approval but that we were
the only anti-nuclear entity in the formal hearing and that none of the big
enviro groups with all the funding didn't, at least, make a token effort to
intervene. This is the FIRST nuclear plant to get state permission to go ahead
in 30 years, this outcome stands as a precedent for other states and other
nukes and allows FPL, a member of the Nustart Consortium, to go for the state
and federal permits they need.
We tried our best.
